Fear crept in

The day grew old as I stood at attention. My eyes darting, looking for every possible direction to get out. The darkness was overwhelming making me lose focus. I saw a small slit in the wooden boards which held the shatters together. Light surged through the slit helping me understand where I was. I turned as the flooring creaked in protest at the shift of weight. I gulped a yelp as the portrait of a old bearded dude regarded me with cold and distant eyes. 'Sup?', I said, not very productive line to initiate conversation but thankfully the guy did not reply. I averted my gaze and looked up. The wooden boards were covered with dried leaves and twigs resulting from the change of season. The orange and brown leaves formed a trapeze obscuring the sky.
