Another typical day
My days seem to be beginning with my sister screaming at the top of her voice" get up!!" while she simultaneously tries to snatch my blanket. (The only thing I love more than dark chocolate)
I manage to ignore her and pull the blanket up, my head tucked in with the pillow placed strategically on my ear with the other one pressed on the covers firmly and persistently. when she finally gets annoyed and leaves, I smile in triumph gaining 15 more minutes of disturbance-less sleep.
No sooner that I begin to drift and fall asleep my phone begins to ring so loudly that I nearly yelp in surprise.I throw it away wishing the person at the other end gets the message and hangs up. But no! The persistent caller seems to have made up his mind and I muster all my strength and move my hands around like I am blind trying to search for my mobile. I pick it up look at the name, blink thrice (my eyes took a long time to get adapted with the room's brightness) "Shit!" I scream as I remember that I had to go for my class which started 15 minutes ago and now my friend is probably mad at me now for not showing up and leaving her with some 12 year olds annoying her.
I don't pick up the phone fearing her wrath as I try to rush out of the bed, get tangled in the blanket and fall on the cold hard floor right on face. "Brilliant." I mutter.
Yet with some superhuman strength, I manage to free myself while my curly locks keep falling on my eyes, my brain in some kind of panic mode and my body pleading to be back in the warmth of my cozy bed. I stand in front of the mirror and realize that my hair looks like crows attacked it. Picked up locks of it rather forcefully and threw them across the other end.
I tug and pull my hair and hope that I look civilized. I eat my breakfast in such a hurry that my mother fears that I might choke. My phone rings again and I look at it like seeing a vile repulsive object. I instantly know that it's my friend from the class.
I handover the phone to my mother telling her to answer it, figuring that my friend can't swear if it's my mom on line. My mother answers "yes. she's getting ready. Oh? Ya . I'll let her know. "
And she hangs up. I brace myself for another lecture on importance of getting up early while she has an amused look on her face. She smiles broadly and says," It was your friend X, she said there's no class today, it's postponed to day after tomorrow.
I stand there looking as dejected as the squirrel in Ice age does whenever he loses that nut and think to myself: another typical day.
